Last week our TY and LCA students spent the day in the Abbey, Donegal Town, participating in the Connect Mental Health Day. The students were split up into groups which took part in workshops on the importance of eating healthy food, staying active and getting exercise, yoga and relaxation, and a talk on mental health from the Jigsaw. Coláiste Cholmcille’s U19A girls basketball team had a very exciting win on Wednesday 3rd October defeating St. Paul’s Oughterard. CCBS hosted the first round of the senior girls ‘A’ Schools Cup and beat the Galway side 44-41. The girls now progress to the next round playing Our Lady’s Castleblaney away on Thursday 18th Oct.
Well done to all our students who received their Junior Cert results yesterday. There was a great deal of excitement and anticipation in the Assembly Area yesterday as everyone gathered for the big moment. Overall, the results were very impressive. This year’s Transition Year group headed off on the first major expedition of the year, the annual bonding trip in Delphi Adventure Resort in Co. Mayo, last week. After a quick bite at the adventure centre, they eagerly launched into three days of activities, which included surfing, high ropes, climbing, archery and everyone’s favourite, the bog challenge. Shane and Ana were elected at the end of the last school term by staff and students following an intense electoral campaign, and took up office at the start of the new school year.
