Mock Exams – Timetables

The Leaving Cert and Junior Cert mock exams begin this week, with JC mocks starting on Thursday and LC on Friday. Exams continue until the following Friday. The mock exams are a very important part of exam preparation, as they give students real experience of exam situations. Just like the real thing, the mocks can also be a period of anxiety and stress for all involved. Students are advised to plan their study timetables, schedule regular breaks, eat healthily, go for some exercise and get a go

Blurb! is Back!

Blurb! returns this Friday in Room 31 at lunchtime. For those of you who don’t know, Blurb! is the Coláiste Cholmcille Book Club for senior students (TY, Fifth and Sixth Year). Blurb! meets once every 4-6 weeks to discuss their latest book choice, whether they liked it or finished it or not, and to choose the next book. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.

Cárta Vailintín

The TY students and Irish Department are currently running a “Cárta Vailintín” competition. Students are invited to create a Valentine’s Day card, but the romantic wording must be ‘as Gaeilge’. There are prizes going for the best three cards. Entry fee is €1 with proceeds going to the Baby Holly fund. Cards must be dropped into Ms. Gallagher in Room 45 before February the 7th.

A Civvies Day was held in the school last Friday. Students were asked to bring in €2 each to raise money for Holly Downey and the Crumlin Children’s Hospital. Holly is the daughter of Shannon Downey, a past pupil of the school. Unfortunately Holly has been diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. The family are currently raising funds to help with the cost of her chemotherapy. The school was able to collect €1,100 towards the cause.

National Award for Jarlath Leonard

Congratulations to Jarlath Leonard on achieving the second highest results in the country in Design & Communication Graphics at Ordinary Level in last year’s Leaving Cert. Jarlath will be presented with a special commemorative piece in recognition of his exceptional achievement at a special presentation in GMIT Galway in March. Mr. Mc Glynn, Jarlath’s Leaving Cert teacher, will also be honoured with a special certificate by the Techno-Teachers Association, to acknowledge his cont

3.4 CSPE ISPCA Talk

Third Year CSPE students were delighted to attend a talk by Kevin and Denise from the ISPCA. As part of their Junior Cert Action Project they set up a pet food collection and invited the ISPCA to give a presentation to learn more about animal welfare in their community. It was a fantastic discussion and the ISPCA inspectors were delighted to receive the donation. LCVP Visit Lifeboat

On Thursday, 18th January,  6th year LCVP students along with their teacher Ms. Gallagher visited the RNLI lifeboat station in Bundoran. Mr. Killian O’ Kelly greeted the group and gave the students a very informative talk on the invaluable work carried out by the volunteers at the station. Students got to see the equipment used by the RNLI,  such as the lifeboat and tractor.
