Congratulations to the U16 Girls’ Basketball team who came out on top of the North West Region at B level. The girls recently beat AVS Donegal Town by a comfortable margin. They have now secured their place in the All-Ireland Playoffs which will be held in our own school gym on January 17th from 11am. They are into the final 16 teams in Ireland at B level and hope to continue the success of last year when they were narrowly defeated in the All-Ireland. The playoffs will consist of three teams, St.Louis Community School, Kiltimagh, Our Lady and St. Patrick’s College, Belfast and Coláist
Best of luck to all who qualified for the Ulster Finals on Saturday 17th May, as well as their coach and teacher, Ms Emma McKinley. Robbie Kelly has qualified for the 1200 metre walk, Eva McMullin for both the 100metre and 300metre run and Clara Herron for the shot put and hammer. Good luck to all.
Good luck to our Girls Basketball Team who head to Limerick on Friday to compete in the All Ireland Semi-Final, and if successful, in the All Ireland Final the very same day! A group of around 30 supporters will travel with the team to shout for CCBS. This is a major achievement for the team who have performed brilliantly over the season, and we are confident they will be bringing the All Ireland trophy to Ballyshannon.
Congrats to Mona McSharry, First Year, who competed at a very high standard in swimming over the weekend. She will represent Colaíste Cholmcille and Ulster in the All Ireland Schools Swimming Competition next weekend. Mona is no stranger to success in the water having enjoyed first place at the HSE Community Games National Finals representing Sligo from the Cliffoney/Grange area, who was first in the final of the girls U-12 Breaststroke. We wish her continued success as she currently trains for and with the Irish Team.
Well done to Leaving Certificate students Niall Harley (Captain) and Colm Kelly who won the Ulster Minor Football League final against Tyrone on Saturday last. Tyrone were All-Ireland Minor finalists in 2013, losing to Mayo in the final, having been beaten by Monaghan in the Ulster final. Donegal’s previous two Ulster Minor League wins, in 1996 and 2006, coincided with the last two occasions on which they’ve won the Minor Championship. This is a momentous win for Donegal and we are very proud of both Niall and Colm who are juggling the demands of a tough coaching schedule with studying and re
Well done to the Second Year Girls Basketball team and their coaches, Ms Julianne Murphy and Mr Stephen Carty along with Ms Yolanda Gallagher and Ms Kate Travers who are through to the All-Ireland Semi-Finals in Limerick on Friday 9th of May. In order to qualify, having won the provincial stages, they had to overcome teams from Cork, Galway and Kerry. On Friday 9th May, they will compete for a place in the All Ireland Finals which will be played on the same day. Good luck to all.
Congrats to Maeve Liston, Claudia Cloughin and Ms Julianne Murphy who played in the Northwest League Final for Donegal Town in Ballyshannon over the Easter and won. A special word of congrats to Maeve who was awarded as the most valuable player on the panel.
Congratulations to the Second Year Girls Basketball team on earning their place in the All-Ireland semi-final by defeating three teams in the playoffs earlier this week. The team will be hard at work training for the semi-final match, and hopefully for the final as both semi-final and final will be played on the same day. This is a fantastic and well-deserved achievement for a hard-working team who have shown dedication and commitment as well as great skill and teamwork all season long.
Best of luck to the CCBS First and Second Year Girls Basketball teams travel to Kiltimagh today to compete in the All-Ireland Playoffs against five other school teams. Success in their rounds will see them qualified for the Semi-Finals.
The CCBS First Year Girls Basketball team travelled to the Ursuline, Sligo on March 25th, 2014 in search of a victory but fell at the very last hurdle. The CCBS Girls, captained by Anna Keon, battled well through each quarter, only to lose to Ursuline by only one point. The final score was 20-19 to Ursuline.
Under-14 Boys played in Donegal’s Cup Rugby Qualifying Blitz. They played four matches of twelve minutes in length. Colaiste Cholmcille drew with St. Columbs, Derry and St. Columba’s Stanorlar.
