Last Tuesday both Leaving Cert Art classses visited two very different exhibitions in Dublin. “Sculpture in Context” is the longest running and most successful sculpture exhibition in the National Botanic Gardens. This unique exhibition displays the extraordinary work of 128 established and emerging artists in a variety of settings.
In the afternoon the group had a guided tour of the Roderic O’Connor exhibition at the National Gallery of Ireland. The guide was hugely informative and enthusiastic. Students were equally enthused by witnessing works by Van Gogh and Gauguin who worked alongside O’Connor.
This day is directly related to the Art History and Appreciation exam paper at Leaving Cert.
