Fifth Year and Leaving Cert LCVP students enjoyed a visit to Patton’s Farm as part of their enterprise module last week. Students were lucky to get a tour of their egg business Castle Free Eggs and their open
Farm business Castle Open Adventure Farm. The students visited the egg grading shed and witnessed the grading of eggs into different sizes and the quality control measures that are in place and also the impact that technology has had on the business. The second part of the tour was really enjoyable for the students as they got a sneak peek into the Winter Wonderland on the open farm. The manager Edel gave them a good insight into promotional methods the open farm finds effective, the importance of market research, the importance of flexible employees who work well in teams and show initiative and how Brexit and government regulations affect both businesses. Thanks to Edel and Hugh John Patton for such an enjoyable visit.
